Please stay tuned for information about 2016’s festival in September
On September 19th will be our 3rd annual Burning of Benedict Arnold Festival, which is a full day of events in downtown New London centered around the historic event of Benedict Arnold burning down New London on September 6th, 1781.
The day will feature an original play by Charles Traeger that tells the story of Benedict Arnold’s raid on New London and Groton, starting at The Hempsted Houses at 4pm and moving to The Shaw Mansion at 5pm. The Shaw Mansion will also feature a Taste of New London from 4-8 with local restaurants, Dev’s on Bank, The Seehund, and Mr. G’s, as well as a beer garden.
At 8pm there will be a parade down Bank Street to the waterfront park where an effigy of Benedict Arnold will be burned.
